STI is a composite percentile score combining four shooting metrics, each Bayesian-adjusted for sample size:
| Component | Weight | Description |
| 3P% (Bayesian adj.) | 38% | 3-point percentage corrected for attempts volume |
| FT% (Bayesian adj.) | 27% | Free throw percentage corrected for attempts volume |
| TS% | 25% | True Shooting % β overall scoring efficiency |
| 3PAr (normalized) | 10% | 3-point attempt rate β rewards players who shoot from range |
The composite is then percentile-ranked across all 2285 qualified NCAA players. A score of 90+ = top 10% shooter in college basketball.
